I want my artwork to be evocative; it needs to evoke joy, emotion, passion, as well as some spark of spirituality. Whereas my older work has been done using inks, gouache and acrylics, I much prefer working with different colored artist's papers to really make whatever the piece is, jump off the canvas and bring you into it! I enjoy using vibrant colors but I can certainly create a softer, more bucolic vibe too, that part's up to you! I've created forests, lakeshores, mountains and cityscapes using a melange of papers of different colors, weights and textures.
When I work with a couple to create their ketubah, I first must get to know the couple, either in person or virtually, in order to gain a sense of who you are as a couple, in order to help me to create just the right piece for your wedding day. It is such an important symbol of your love for each other, combined with your connection with Jewish life and Yiddishkeit in general, as well as reflecting the vibe of the Jewish home that you are about to build together. We will start from scratch, I will guide you through the process, and we will create something magical!
I also create simpler Judaica for births, b'nai mitzvah and as wedding gifts, or just to hang in your home; it doesn't need to be the (legal) ketubah text to be a dramatic piece of Judaica.
